“DREAM” VACATION

What is the difference between a Dream Vacation and a “Dream” Vacation? A dream vacation is what Jon and I are doing for our 30th anniversary in August. Weare taking a trip to Hawaii and we couldn’t be more excited. However, a “Dream” Vacation is what I just did last week in St Augustine, FL with my assistant, Brandie.

The first one is a noun (thing) and the second is a verb (action). Both are very important and the distinction is important. I would the second one makes the first one possible.

What do you do on a “Dream” vacation? Well, it’s a dedicated time to plan, set goals, dream, and structure a plan to make those dreams a reality. Brandie and I spent 2 days doing just that and, BOY, are we dreaming big. This also means we have a LOT of work to do. My dreamer was awakened 4 years ago this August and it’s on hyperdrive now. I can’t wait to share what we feel led to create. But this blog is about what a “dream” vacation is LOL.

We structured 2 full days with time blocks of working/creating. For example, we set a schedule of 9:00am-12:00pm and 2:00-5:00pm of uninterrupted work. We left the mornings to ourselves privately. (For me, that looked like my typical morning routine of preparing for the day and spending time with Jesus.) In the evenings, we enjoyed a nice dinner out and explored the local area. You may wonder why I chose to travel to do this…….I have found that my creative juices flow and my attention is so much sharper when I am not looking at my laundry and dishes that need to be done. There are fewer disruptions and distractions when you are deliberate in placing yourself somewhere that you can fully focus on the task at hand.

We plan on doing this “dream” vacation 2x a year with another 2x a year taking just a day (locally) to revisit our goals and schedule. I’d love to hear how you do goal setting, dreaming, and planning. My suggestion is to go somewhere you will feel inspired: Does nature inspire you? Then go camping or hiking. Are you bougie? Then go to a boutique hotel. My one suggestion is: JUST DO IT!! It will pay off in dividends in the long run.

Where would you like to go and do a “dream” vacation? I’d love to hear.
